Contest Format & Scoring
Overview
The Grenzland Cup (GLC) is a German-Dutch series of skateboard contests for non-sponsored skaters. The series is divided into the categories Kids, Womens and Mens.
The series takes place at seven different locations and consists of:
6 Qualification Contests
Grand Final
All contests are organized and run by the local skate communities. All participating communities have agreed on this competition format and commit to adhering to these rules.
Qualification Contests
The Qualification Contests take place at six different locations and consist of:
Knockout Rounds
Finals
At each Qualification Contest, points are awarded according to placement. Through this points system, skaters can qualify for the Grand Final.
Grand Final
The Grand Final marks the conclusion of the Grenzland Cup and takes place at a separate location.
Only skaters who have previously qualified through the Qualification Contests are allowed to participate in the Grand Final.
The Grand Final also consists of:
Knockout Rounds

Special regulations:

Qualification for the Grand Final
A maximum of 16 skaters per category can qualify for the Grand Final.
The 6 winners of the Qualification Contests qualify directly for the Grand Final.
If a skater wins more than one Qualification Contest, the second-place finisher of the respective Qualification Contest automatically moves up.
In addition, a maximum of 10 skaters qualify through the points ranking from the Qualification Contests.
Runs and Best Tricks
Each run lasts 1 minute, starting with the first trick.
If a trick is actively initiated before the time expires, it will still be counted.
Each run and best trick is scored on a scale from 0 to 100 points.
Only the best run and the best best trick count.
Weighting of the overall score:
Run: 60 percent
Best Trick: 40 percent
To enhance the event experience, moderators may ask skaters to
repeat tricks or
perform additional tricks after the time has expired.
These additional tricks serve entertainment purposes only and do not count toward the score. This must be clearly recognizable to all participants (moderators, skaters, judges and audience).

Participation Requirements
Only non-sponsored skaters are allowed to participate in the Grenzland Cup.
Participants who become sponsored during the ongoing series are still allowed to continue participating in the current Grenzland Cup.
Additional regulations:
A maximum of 40 skaters per category per Qualification Contest
In the Kids category, skaters up to and including 12 years of age may participate
Apart from that, there is no age restriction
Skaters under 12 years of age may also compete in other categories. In this case, participation in the Kids category is no longer possible.
Insurance and Protective Equipment
Participation in the contest is at your own risk. The organizers assume no liability for injuries, accidents or property damage, to the extent permitted by law. Wearing helmets and protective equipment is recommended. Participants are responsible for their own insurance coverage and must follow the instructions of the organizers.
Participation Fee
For the Womens and Mens categories, the participation fee is 10 €.
However, each location may decide
to charge a lower fee or
to completely waive the participation fee.
This may depend on local sponsors or funding.
Participation for rookies (Kids) is always free of charge.
Participation in the Grand Final
Skaters who have qualified for the Grand Final will receive an official invitation from the Grenzland Cup.
This invitation includes
all event details
information about the schedule
and a deadline for confirming participation.
If confirmation is not received by the deadline or if participation is declined, the next ranked person in the GLC ranking of the respective category will automatically be invited.
Jury
Each location provides
at least one experienced judge and
optionally one substitute judge.
Together they form the GLC jury pool.
From this pool, a head judge is appointed for the entire series.
The head judge, in coordination with the other judges, creates a jury deployment plan for all locations.
Scoring System
Per contest, a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 judges evaluate.
Ideally, the judges come from different GLC locations.
With 5 judges
the highest and lowest scores are discarded and
the average of the 3 remaining scores counts.
With 3 judges,
the average of all scores counts
All judges receive a standardized expense allowance per contest.
Silent Judge
New judges may participate as “silent judges”.
They evaluate under the guidance of an experienced judge, but their scores do not count toward the official results.
Award Ceremony and Prizes
Timing of the award ceremony
After the finals of a category, the jury is given time to evaluate.
As soon as the results are determined, the award ceremony takes place.
During the award ceremony
skating in the park is prevented and
the attention of the audience is focused on the prize giving.
Prizes
Category Kids:
Finalists receive non-cash prizes, which vary depending on placement.

If no clear solution can be derived from the rules, the head judge, the contact person of the location, and the GLC mediator will confer together in order to reach a binding decision.
This decision is decisive for the ongoing GLC.
